Recommended Souvenirs in Nihonbashi

Nihonbashi, located in the heart of Tokyo, has been known as a center of commerce since the Edo period. Today, it’s a district where tradition and innovation blend together, attracting tourists and locals alike. Nihonbashi is a treasure trove of souvenirs! With many established shops and specialty stores, Nihonbashi is known for its high-quality souvenirs.

Eitaro Sohonpo

Eitaro Sohonpo, established in 1818, is a venerable Japanese confectionery shop with its main store in Nihonbashi. One of their most representative sweets is “Meidai Kintsuba.” Kintsuba is a traditional Japanese sweet that has been enjoyed since the Edo period, made by wrapping azuki bean paste in a thin wheat flour coating and grilling it on an iron plate. Eitaro Sohonpo’s “Meidai Kintsuba” is a perfect souvenir that evokes the charm of Nihonbashi.

Ninben

Ninben is a long-established bonito flake specialty store founded in 1699. The Nihonbashi main store has an attractive space where the aroma of bonito flakes wafts in the air. The Nihonbashi main store also houses the “Nihonbashi Kezuriba,” which offers freshly shaved bonito flakes, and the “Nihonbashi Dashiba,” a standing bar with the concept of “one soup, one meal.”

Ninben’s traditionally made bonito flakes come in a wide variety, from easy-to-use shaved flakes for beginners to authentic “Honkarebushi.” The packaging has an elegant design, making it perfect for gifts and souvenirs for people from overseas.

Yok Mok

Yok Mok is a Western confectionery brand founded in 1969, and its signature product “Cigare” is especially famous. For souvenirs, we recommend the Yok Mok assortment/Delis series. It contains Cigares, of course, as well as langue de chat and cookies. The “Rose Delis,” a limited edition at Takashimaya with an elegant design featuring roses, is perfect for special occasions.

Nihonbashi Kiya

Nihonbashi Kiya, established in 1792, is a long-established knife shop with its main store in Nihonbashi. They handle cutlery products such as knives, scissors, and nail clippers, and continue to be loved by people seeking high-quality tools that showcase Japanese craftsmanship.

The especially popular “Danjuro” series is the finest product born from tradition and the latest technology. The beautiful wooden handles and Japanese-style design packaging are also attractive. At the Nihonbashi store, you can also find tableware and cooking utensils in addition to knives, so you can choose a casual souvenir.

Edo-ya

Edo-ya, established in 1718, is a long-established brush specialty store with its main store in Nihonbashi. At this store with a history of over 300 years, you can purchase high-quality brushes and writing brushes, each carefully crafted by artisans.

The feature of Edo-ya’s brushes is the finish of the craftsman’s work using natural hair. There are also custom-made and name-engraving services, making it perfect as a special gift. The high-quality wooden handles and simple, sophisticated design are also attractive, making it a great souvenir that combines practicality and beauty.
